Program Promotion, Management and Implementation
Program Promotion
Events and programs are planned in-house and are marketed in a variety of means. My participation includes announcements sent to my liaison colleges and programs, announcements during presentations to clubs, organizations, and classes, talking with parents and students during "Tiger Tables" at orientation, one-on-one during student appointments, and in my COUN 2970 and COUN 1000 classes.
Management and Implementation
Classes: created two classes for student-athletes (COUN 2970 and COUN 1000) specifically for this population to develop their career planning and implementation skills. Meet with department head to approve these courses and to restrict registration to this population only. Taught both classes each semester while working as the Career Counselor for student-athletes.
Workshops: created and presented career workshops on a variety of career topics for specific populations including student-athletes, students enrolled in my different liaison colleges. Also, worked with international interns in Career Center to develop and present programming specifically for international students.
Practicum/Internship Training: Developed an outline of the areas critical to training incoming Counseling Master's level Practicum /Interns for the next academic year.
Coordination of Presentation Requests: Developed an online presentation request form for clubs, organizations, and faculty to use to request presentations. Developed procedure for communicating requests among staff and once the presenter was identified, notified the contact person. Also, worked with the faculty coordinator for the UNIV 1000 classes to outline what presentations were appropriate for their classes and met with the Ph.D. students designated to teach the COUN 1000 sections to communicate our participation with those classes involving presentations.
Previous position at another institutions have offered me the opportunity to design, develop, and implement an entire career center (from the ground up) and to plan and implement all services offered by the career center including classes, workshops, trips to other career events for specific populations as well as trips to career fairs for all students interested in participating. Purchase of career resources for the career library and software for the computer center was my decision based on input from the students attending the college. Promotion of all activities was my responsibility.
Another career counselor position at a previous institution offered me the opportunity to participate in the promotion of career events as well as to design, manage, and implement a Mock Interview Program with volunteer employers as their interviewers in three settings: phone, one-on-one, and group interviews.
